The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings on Tuesday night to open a three-game National League East series at Truist Park.
The Mets struck first with a home run by Juan Soto during the top of the first inning and tacked on two more with an RBI double from Tyrone Taylor in the second. Matt Olson had an RBI single to get the Braves on the board during the bottom of the third. Taylor homered to give New York a 4-1 lead in the top of the fifth. Marcell Ozuna had a three-run double to tie it up at 4-4 in the eighth, then the Braves secured a walk-off victory with a sac fly from Austin Riley in the bottom of the 10th.
Raisel Iglesias was credited with the win for Atlanta. Huascar Brazoban was charged with the loss for New York.
The Braves improved to 32-39 on the 2025 regular season and remain in third place of the NL East, while the division-leading Mets are now 45-28. The Rome Emperors picked up a 9-4 victory over the Winston Salem Dash on Tuesday night to begin a six-game set in Winston Salem, NC. The teams will meet again this evening at 6:30 pm.
