ATLANTA BRAVES BLANK NEW YORK METS AT TRUIST PARK, ROME EMPERORS DROP ROAD GAME AT WINSTON SALEM TO DASH ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The Atlanta Braves picked up a 5-0 shutout victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night in game two of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. That allowed Atlanta to take the series.

Ronald Acuna Jr. clubbed a home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the first inning. The Braves notched another run in that inning on a fielding error and another on a sac fly by Marcell Ozuna. Nick Allen walked a run in the fourth. Matt Olson hit a homer in the bottom of the seventh.

Chris Sale was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up five hits, walked one, and struck out seven over eight and two-third scoreless innings of work. Paul Blackburn was charged with the loss for New York.

The Braves improved to 33-39 on the 2025 regular season and remain in third place of the NL East. The division-leading Mets are 45-29. The teams’ series finale is scheduled for tonight at 7:15 pm in Atlanta. Fans may listen to play-by-play coverage locally on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.

The Rome Emperors lost to the Winston Salem Dash by 3-1 on Wednesday evening in the second meeting of a six-game set at Winston Salem, NC. That evened the series at a game apiece. Those teams will meet again tonight; first pitch is slated for 6:30 pm.
