The Atlanta Braves lost to the Miami Marlins by 5-3 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game National League East set in Miami, FL. That allowed Miami to take the weekend series by 2-1.
The Braves took an early lead with an RBI single by Austin Riley in the top of the first inning. The Marlins tied it up on a home run from Kyle Stowers in the bottom of the second. The Braves took the lead again on an RBI single by Drake Baldwin in the top of the third. However, the Marlins tied it again in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single by Otto Lopez. They took the lead on another RBI single from Lopez in the fifth, during which Dane Myers contributed an RBI single. Alex Verdugo had an RBI fielder’s choice for Atlanta in the top of the sixth. Miami netted one more run on an RBI single from Xavier Edwards in the bottom of that inning and won the game, again, by a 5-3.
Bryce Elder was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and 10 hits, walking one, and striking out four over five and one-third innings of work. Sandy Alcantara was credited with the win and Ronny Henriquez picked up the save for Miami.

The Rome Emperors lost to the Winston Salem Dash by a final score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a five game set at Winston Salem, NC. Winston Salem took the series by three games to Rome’s two.
