The Atlanta Braves lost to the Philadelphia Phillies by 2-1 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. That allowed Philadelphia to take the weekend series among division rivals by two games to one.
The Braves struck first during the bottom of the second inning on a home run by Sean Murphy, one day after he hit a grand slam versus the Phillies.
However, the Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI double by Otto Kemp and a sac fly by Trea Turner.
Spencer Strider was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up two runs and five hits, walking three, and striking out four over seven innings. Ranger Suarez picked up the win and Matt Strahm got the save for Philadelphia.
Atlanta is now 38-45 on the 2025 regular season and remains in third place of the NL East. Philadelphia leads the division at 49-35.
The Braves have a scheduled off-day today and will resume their current nine game homestand this Tuesday night with the first of three outings against the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch is slated for 7:15 pm. Listen to play-by-play coverage locally on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
