The Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Angels by 8-3 on Wednesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set at Truist Park. It evened the series at 1-1.
The Angels struck first with a two run single from Jo Adell in the top of the first inning. The Braves surged ahead on a three run homer by Sean Murphy in the bottom of the sixth. Matt Olson clubbed a grand slam in that inning.
Jurickson Profar had a solo home run during the seventh in his return to the Braves line-up. Former Brave Jorge Soler had a solo shot for the Angels in the ninth.
Aaron Bummer picked up the win in relief for Atlanta. Ryan Zeferjahn took the loss for LA.
The Braves improved to 39-46 on the 2025 regular season and have returned to third place in the National League East. They will play their series finale versus the Angels this evening at 7:15 pm. Tonight’s finale with LA will be followed for Atlanta by three more games at home versus the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend.
In other news from the Braves, Ronald Acuna Jr. has been elected to start in the outfield for the National League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. This is his fifth All-Star selection. The Midsummer Classic is set for Tuesday, July 15th in Atlanta.
The Rome Emperors beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods by 4-3 on Wednesday evening in the second meeting of a three-game set at AdventHealth Stadium. The Emperors scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal the victory and secure a 2-0 lead in the series. They will aim for a sweep of the Hot Rods in the series finale this evening at 6:05 pm.
