ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN ROAD TRIP WITH LOSS TO ATHLETICS, ROME EMPERORS BEGIN HOMESTAND WITH WIN OVER HUB CITY SPARTANBURGERS

The Atlanta Braves opened a six-game road trip with a loss to the Athletics by 10-1 in the first meeting of a three-game set in Sacramento, CA. It was the fifth loss in a row for Atlanta.

Lawrence Butler led off the bottom of the first inning with an inside the park home run for the Athletics. Brent Rooker and Max Muncy each had two-run shots in that inning. Nick Kurtz put the As ahead by 9-0 with a grand slam in the second. Butler added another solo shot in the third. Eli White clubbed a solo homer for the Braves to begin the top of the fifth.

Didier Fuentes was charged with the loss for the Braves after giving up eight runs and five hits, walking two, and striking out two through just one inning. Jeffrey Springs was credited with the win for the Athletics.

The Braves are now 39-51 on the 2025 regular season and remain in fourth place of the National League East. The Athletics improved to 38-55 and are still in last place of the American League West. Those teams will meet again tonight at 10:05 pm Eastern. The Rome Emperors blanked the Hub City Spartanburgers by 4-0 on Tuesday night in the opener of a six-game set at AdventHealth Stadium. That was the second win in a row for Rome. The teams will meet again tonight; first pitch is set for 7 pm.
