ATLANTA BRAVES EVEN SERIES IN SACRAMENTO WITH WEDNESDAY NIGHT WIN OVER ATHLETICS, ROME EMPERORS’ SET AT HOME VERSUS HUB CITY SPARTANBURGERS NOW EVEN AT 1-1

The Atlanta Braves picked up a 9-2 victory out in Sacramento, CA over the Athletics on Wednesday night. It allowed Atlanta to snap a five-game losing skid and evened the series at a game each.

Ronald Acuna Jr. led off the game with a home run. Later in the top of the first inning, Drake Baldwin clubbed a three-run shot. Austin Riley added a two-run homer in the second. Acuna homered again in the fourth. Marcell Ozuna homered to begin the sixth. Jurickson Profar contributed an RBI double in the seventh.

The Athletics’ tallied their two runs on an RBI groundout by Lawrence Butler in the fifth and an RBI single from Gio Urshela in the sixth.

Bryce Elder was the Braves’ winning pitcher. He gave up just two runs and eight hits, walked one, and struck out seven over six and two-third innings of work. Mitch Spence took the loss for the Athletics.

The Braves improved to 40-51 for the 2025 regular season and are still in fourth place of the National League East. The Athletics are 38-56 and in last place of the American League West. The Rome Emperors lost on their home field to the Hub City Spartanburgers by 2-1 on Wednesday evening in game two of a six-game set at AdventHealth Stadium. That series is now even at 1-1. The teams will meet this evening at 7 pm.
