FLOYD EMA SEEKS NEW VOLUNTEERS

The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency is currently in search of new volunteers to help out with incident response, search and rescue efforts, weather spotting, and more.

Tim Herrington, Floyd EMA Director, says that the number of volunteers has dwindled considerably since he began working for the agency more than two decades ago. Most of those served on the CERT (or Community Emergency Response Team).

Volunteers can help lighten the load of emergency responders in the wake of disasters, according to Herrington.
