NWGA CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT THIS MONTH

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It was signed into law on July 26, 1990 by then-President George H.W. Bush.

Vinny Olsziewski, Independent Living Specialist for the Northwest Georgia Center for Independent Living, says that the ADA has done much to prohibit discrimination based on disability, as intended, and has opened many doors in education, transportation, housing, employment, and more to individuals with disabilities.

The Northwest Georgia Center for Independent Living provides a variety of services and resources to residents with disabilities in 18 counties around the area. For more information, visit www.nwga-cil.org.
