ATLANTA BRAVES DROP FINALE AND SERIES TO NEW YORK YANKEES, ROME EMPERORS WRAP UP WEEKEND SET IN ASHEVILLE, NC WITH WIN OVER TOURISTS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the New York Yankees by 4-2 on Sunday to wrap up a three-game interleague set at Truist Park. New York took that series by 2-1.

The Yankees got on the board with two runs in the top of the first on a solo home run from Aaron Judge and an RBI single by Paul Goldschmidt. They added another run in the top of the sixth. The Braves got on the board in the bottom of that inning on a solo home run by Matt Olson. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit an RBI double for the Yankees in the top of the seventh. Ronald Acuna Jr. clubbed a home run to begin the bottom of the ninth for the Braves.

Grant Holmes was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up three runs and seven hits, walking two, and striking out two through six innings. Marcus Stroman was credited with the win and Devin Williams got the save for New York.

The Braves are now 43-55 on the ’25 season. They will continue their current homestand this evening with the first outing of a three-game series versus the San Francisco Giants. The Rome Emperors beat the Asheville Tourists by 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in what turned out to be a two-game weekend set at Asheville, NC. That led to a 1-1 split of the series.

The Emperors are off today and will continue the current road trip with a six game series in New York against the Hudson Valley Renegades this Tuesday through Sunday.
