Media release from Shorter University:
Shorter University’s School of Education proudly welcomed the 2025–2026 class of student teachers during its annual Clinical Practice Orientation, held Monday on campus. This year’s theme, “Road Trip: The Adventure Begins,” set the tone for a year full of growth, impact, and discovery in the classroom.
To kick off the celebration, students had the chance to pose with a classic 1965 Ford Mustang, generously brought to campus by Mr. Youngblood, father of Dr. Vincent. The nostalgic photo opportunity served as the perfect symbol of the exciting journey ahead.
Throughout the day, students heard from Dean Dr. Dana King, who shared insights about preparing for a successful clinical year. Attendees spent valuable time collaborating with their cooperating teachers and supervising professors, discussing expectations, assignments, and plans for the school year.
Adding a meaningful layer to the orientation, several of our incredible alumni, Jordan Catron, JR Lewis, Colin Evon, Hope Short, Hannah Lord, Jocelyn Cisneros, and Andrea Berry returned to share reflections on their classroom experiences and advice for success as first-year teachers.
To support the emotional well-being of our future educators, Ms. Melissa Jansen and Ms. Stephani Morss from Abundant Living Christian Counseling provided thoughtful strategies for managing stress and maintaining balance in the teaching profession.
We are incredibly proud of our teaching hawks and all they represent. The dedication, heart, and excellence of this group inspire us every year, and we can’t wait to see how they impact the lives of students across our community.
As we journey down new “Roads to Adventures” this school year, we are excited to support and celebrate all the amazing things to come.
