The Atlanta Braves wrapped up an eight-game homestand with a 7-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday in the last outing of a five-game National League East set at Truist Park. The Braves took that series by 4-1 and went 4-4 during their homestand.
The Marlins scored the first run of the day on an RBI single by Liam Hicks in the top of the second inning. Matt Olson began the bottom of the fourth with a home run for the Braves to tie the game at 1-1. Atlanta took the lead in the fifth on an RBI double by Jurickson Profar, who later scored on a wild pitch. Marcell Ozuna clubbed a three-run bomb in the seventh. Michael Harris II also contributed a solo home run in that inning to make it 7-1 in favor of the Braves.
Joey Wentz picked up his first win for Atlanta after surrendering just one run and four hits, walking three, and striking out two through five and one-third innings of work. Tyler Phillips was charged with the loss for Miami.
The Braves are off today and will open a six-game road trip on Tuesday night with the first of three NL East games in New York versus the Mets. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 pm. The Rome Emperors fell to the Greenville Drive by 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a seven-game set in Greenville, SC. The Drive took the series by 4-3.
