Media release from Atrium Health Floyd:
JoiningAtrium Health Floyd Primary Care Family Medicine & Pediatrics Polk is a homecoming for Dr. Jacob Collier, who is happy to be treating patients in Cedartown, where he grew up.
“It was my goal to be back and be able to serve Cedartown. So, it’s been a blessing to be able to come back here,” said Collier, who served as a chief resident at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Family Medicine Residency.
“One of the rewards of being in a position like this in a small town is you get to meet the people. You get to develop relationships with them. So, being a physician in a small town really appealed to me because everybody knows everybody,” Collier said.
He said it is also likely he will bump into patients around town, giving him more opportunity to build relationships with patients outside the walls of a medical clinic.
“I really want it to be a partnership, helping them take care of themselves. Shared decision-making is an important part of the physician-patient relationship,” added Collier, who sees patients age12 and older.
Collier played high school football and wrestled as a student at Darlington School. He said he looks forward to being involved in providing care for high school athletes in Polk County, whether it’s being on the sidelines Friday night or at tournaments involving other sports.
He received his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmaceutical chemistry from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw.
