The Atlanta Braves opened a six-game road trip with a loss to the New York Mets by 13-5 on Tuesday night in the first meeting of a three-game National League East set in New York. That brought the Braves’ latest winning streak to an end at three straight games and snapped a Mets’ losing streak at seven in a row.
The Braves struck first with an RBI groundout by Drake Baldwin in the top of the first inning. The Mets scored three in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Cedric Mullins and a two-run homer from Francisco Alvarez. They increased their lead to 5-1 on a two-run homer from Pete Alonso in the third. The Braves tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth on a two-run double from Nacho Alvarez Jr, fielder’s choice by Jurickson Profar, and RBI double from Matt Olson. However, the Mets regained the lead in the bottom of that inning on a three-run homer by Brandon Nimmo. They added two more in the fifth on an RBI double by Alvarez and RBI single by Brett Baty, another during the sixth on another home run by Alonso, and two more in the seventh on home runs from Alvarez and Baty.
Spencer Strider took the loss for Atlanta after giving up eight runs and eight hits, walking two, and striking out two in four innings. Gregory Soto got the win and Justin Hagenman picked up the save for New York.

The Rome Emperors’ homestand opener versus the Bowling Green Hot Rods scheduled for Tuesday night at AdventHealth Stadium was postponed due to inclement weather. That will be made up as part of a double header with two seven inning games on Thursday evening at 5 pm. Those teams are slated to meet tonight at 7 pm.
