The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets by 4-3 on Thursday night in the finale of a three-game National League East set in New York. It allowed the Braves to take the series by 2-1.
The Mets struck first with a solo home run by Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the third inning. Ozzie Albies clubbed a solo shot for the Braves to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth. He put Atlanta ahead with an RBI single in the top of the sixth. The Mets tied it up again on a sac fly from Brandon Nimmo and took a 3-2 lead with an RBI single by Pete Alonso in the bottom of that inning. The Braves scored a pair of runs during the top of the eighth on RBI doubles by Michael Harris II and Albies to secure a 4-3 lead, the final score by which they would go on to win the game.
Bryce Elder picked up the win for Atlanta after giving up three runs (two of the earned) and five hits, walking two, and striking out six in seven innings. Rasiel Iglesias got the save. Ryan Helsley took the loss for New York.
The Braves will continue their current six-game road trip with a three-game set in Cleveland, OH versus the Guardians over the weekend. First pitch of tonight’s series opener is slated for 7:10 pm. The Rome Emperors swept a double header versus the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Thursday evening by final scores of 1-0 in the opener and 2-0 in the nightcap at AdventHealth Stadium. Rome now enters the weekend with a 2-1 lead in the series. The teams will meet again tonight at 7 pm.
