Can you lend a helping hand to the Rome-Floyd Fire Department so that it can support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation?
The RFD seeks contributions from the community for Project R.E.A.C.H. (or Recycling Every Aluminum Can Helps). It is a year-round effort conducted in cooperation with Georgia fire departments, businesses, and organizations to collect cans. Proceeds benefit the GFBF’s mission to assist burn survivors, support medical facilities, and provide fire safety and prevention education.
Linda Patty, RFD Life and Fire Safety Educator, says that funds go towards things like summer camp for young burn survivors.
Rome and Floyd County residents may take their aluminum cans to the Fire Station in downtown Rome, according to Shasta Farrer, Life and Fire Safety Educator.
In addition to providing a revenue source, Patty says that Project R.E.A.C.H. Keeps aluminum cans out of landfills.
Farrer reminds locals – you CAN make a difference!
The RFD is competing with other fire departments across the state to find out who can gather the most cans. They can ‘crush’ that goal with the help of the community.
