Media release from the Georgia Lottery Corporation:
A Georgia Lottery player won the $1 million top prize playing the 50X The Money scratcher. The lucky ticket was purchased at Highland Shell, 485 Jimmy Deloach Parkway in Savannah. The winner chose the cash option for $809,000 and claimed on August 15. Last week, Georgia Lottery players claimed $38,074,081 in scratch-off winnings.
Two Georgia Lottery players had wins in the August 16 Powerball drawing. One player won $50,000 with a ticket from Food Mart BP Amoco at 112 Kingston Highway 293 NW in Cartersville. That ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball. Another player matched the same numbers but selected the Powerplay Multiplier, tripling their winnings from $50,000 to $150,000. That ticket was purchased at Arnold Mill Ventures, 12335 Arnold Mill Road in Alpharetta. The next drawing will be August 18 with an estimated jackpot of $605 million.
A Mega Millions player also won $40,000 in the August 15 drawing with a ticket from Colquitt Food Store, 410 W. Crawford Street in Colquitt. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Mega Ball, and a built-in 4X Megaplier quadrupled the prize from $10,000 to $40,000. The next drawing will be August 19 with a jackpot of $216 million.
As with all Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from scratchers, Powerball, and Mega Millions benefit education in the state of Georgia
