ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE SERIES AT HOME VERSUS CHICAGO WHITE SOX, ROME EMPERORS’ GAME AT ASHEVILLE, NC VERSUS TOURISTS SUSPENDED ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH CONTINUATION SET FOR THURSDAY

The Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago White Sox by 1-0 on Wednesday night to conclude a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed Atlanta to take the series by 2-1.

Marcell Ozuna scored the lone run of the evening for the Braves when Ozzie Albies reached on a fielding error in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Hurston Waldrep picked up the win for Atlanta after giving up just four hits, walking one, and striking out seven through seven scoreless innings. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Martin Perez took the loss for Chicago.

The Braves have a scheduled off-day today and will continue their current six game homestand with a three-game National League East set against the New York Mets over the weekend. The first pitch of Friday night’s series opener is slated for 7:15 pm. That outing will not be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM due to our coverage of high school football. Braves fans may listen to WLAQ for broadcast coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network of the games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

The Rome Emperors’ game versus the Asheville Tourists was suspended on Wednesday night in Asheville, NC. It will resume today at 5:05 pm. Upon completion of that game, another will be played.

Wednesday night’s outing was tied at 1-1 when it was suspended in the third inning.

The Emperors’ series in Asheville will continue through this Sunday and will include a twin bill on Saturday to make up a game that was rained out back in July. Their final homestand of the 2025 season is set for next Tuesday through Sunday against the Winston-Salem Dash at AdventHealth Stadium in Rome. They will wrap up the regular season on the road versus the Hub City Spartanburgers during the first week of September.
