ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP HOMESTAND WITH WIN OVER NEW YORK METS, ROME EMPERORS’ SERIES FINALE AT ASHEVILLE, NC CANCELED

The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets by 4-3 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. That denied a sweep of the series for New York.

The Mets struck first with a two-run homer by Mark Vientos during the top of the second inning. Sean Murphy hit a two-run single for the Braves to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Jurickson Profar put Atlanta ahead with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth. Juan Soto had an RBI single to put the Mets within a run of the Braves in the top of the ninth.

Tyler Kinley was credited with the win for Atlanta. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Gregory Soto took the loss for New York.

The Rome Emperors’ series finale in Asheville, NC versus the Tourists was canceled because of wet field conditions on Sunday afternoon. Rome took the weather-shortened series between the teams by 3-1.
