The Atlanta Braves fell to the Chicago Cubs by 7-6 in 10 innings on Monday afternoon to open a three-game set at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL.
The Braves struck first with an RBI single by Ozzie Albies during the top of the first inning. They made it 3-0 on a two-run single by Michael Harris II in the third. The Cubs got on the board with a solo home run by Ian Happ in the bottom of the fourth. Harris II drove in two more with an RBI double in the fifth. He reached home plate on an RBI double from Nacho Alvarez Jr. in that inning to make it 6-1 in favor of the Braves. But the Cubs charged back with an RBI double from Matt Shaw during the fifth, two-run double from Dansby Swanson in the sixth, and a game-tying two-run homer from Carson Kelly in the eighth. They were lifted to victory on a walk-off single from Kelly in the bottom of the 10th.
John Brebbia was tagged with the loss for Atlanta. Andrew Kittredge got the win for Chicago.
