The Atlanta Braves defeated the Chicago Cubs by 4-1 on Monday evening in the first meeting of a three-game set at Truist Park.
The Braves scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run by Ozzie Albies, RBI double from Drake Baldwin, and RBI single from Ronald Acuna Jr. Matt Shaw hit a sac fly to drive in the Cubs’ lone run of the night during the top of the seventh. Matt Olson clubbed a solo home run for the Braves in the eighth.
Bryce Elder was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up one run and five hits, walking one, and striking out six through six and one-third innings of work. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Shota Imanaga took the loss for Chicago.
Monday night’s victory was the 800th as a Major League manager for Brian Snitker.
