ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP SERIES WITH LOSS TO CHICAGO CUBS

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Chicago Cubs by 3-2 on Wednesday night in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park. It allowed Chicago to take that series by 2-1.

The Braves struck first with an RBI double by Nacho Alvarez Jr. during the bottom of the third inning. Carson Kelly homered for the Cubs to lead off the fourth and tie the game at 1-1. The Cubs took a 2-1 lead in that inning with an RBI double from Justin Turner and added another run on a sac fly from Seiya Suzuki in the top of the fifth. Matt Olson had a sac fly that drove in another run for the Braves in the bottom of that inning.

Chris Sale took the loss for Atlanta after giving up three runs and seven hits, walking one, and striking out nine in five innings. Taylor Rogers got the win and Andrew Kittredge picked up the save for Chicago.

The Braves have a scheduled off-day on Thursday and will finish the current nine-game homestand over the weekend with a three-game series against the Houston Astros at Truist Park. The first pitch of Friday night’s series opener is set for 7:15 pm. The outing will not be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM due to our coverage of high school football.
