It’s air show weekend in Rome, GA! The 2025 Wings Over North Georgia air show will take to the skies above Rome’s Russell Regional Airport today through Sunday.
Friday Night Flights will highlight opening day activities with a twilight and night air show that will conclude with drones and fireworks.
Bob Carlton with Vertigo Airshows looks forward to dazzling local air show fans in his FoxJet Sailplane with pyrotechnics.
Gates will open at 2 pm today for ticket holders to watch practice flights by weekend performers. There will be a concert at 4:30 pm featuring Atlanta-based country artist Kurt Thomas. It will be followed by the twilight/night air show, drones, and fireworks.
WONG ’25 will feature some of the best performers in the country, according to Carlton, who encourages the community to head to the air show and have a great time this weekend.
The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels will not be part of this year’s performer line up as originally planned. Here’s the latest from air show officials:
“The most recent vote Thursday by the U.S. Senate did not result in an approved budget. Because there isn’t another vote scheduled until Monday, we do not see a reasonable path for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to perform this weekend at the Wings Over North Georgia Air Show. Both the Blue Angels and the air show organizers have continued to proceed with planning in hopes a resolution would be reached. Unless directed otherwise, the team will not appear this weekend in Rome, GA.
The air show will continue as scheduled this weekend and has a solid lineup of civilian performers unaffected by the current government shutdown. Friday afternoon and evening is packed with family-friendly entertainment – evening concert, twilight and night air show, drone show, and fireworks finale. Aerial performances will take place Saturday and Sunday.
In consideration of the loss of the Blue Angels participation in this year’s show, all current ticket holders attending this weekend’s show will receive a discount code for an air show to be hosted in Rome, Georgia at a future date.”
