The Salvation Army of Rome, GA seeks support from community members to make the upcoming holiday season brighter for those in need.
Registration continues through October for the non-profit’s 2025 Angel Tree program, states Major Hank Harwell, Corps Officer. Families with children from birth to age 12 are eligible to apply, as are seniors age 65 and up.
Applications are available at The Salvation Army of Rome, GA office at 317 East 1st Avenue. This assistance is provided to residents of Floyd, Polk and Chattooga counties. Eligibility will be confirmed based on applicants’ ages, residency, and income.
Donors will soon be able to select ‘angels’ at both WalMart locations in Rome and at The Salvation Army of Rome, GA office, then shop for items on their wishlists.
Volunteers, particularly groups of volunteers, are sought to ring bells for the Red Kettle campaign, the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
Donations are additionally solicited for the Red Kettle campaign, which will begin on the Friday before Thanksgiving and continue through around 3 pm on Christmas Eve. Donors will, as always, be able to drop cash and change into bell ringers’ kettles. A QR code will be featured on each kettle stand for donations to be made via a mobile device.
A canned food drive will also be held during the holiday season, according to Major Harwell, who says that contributions are needed year-round to ensure that The Salvation Army of Rome, GA’s shelves are stocked with nutritious items to provide to those in need.
Exactly two months before Christmas – on October 25th – the organization’s Family Store will hold a Customer Appreciation Day. It will feature snacks, deals, and family fun.
