Many people are excited that Halloween falls on a Friday this year, and local families will have a handful of opportunities to safely celebrate around Rome and Floyd County.
Downtown Trick or Treat will take place in downtown Rome from 3 pm until 5 pm. Area merchants will offer treats to costumed kids ages 12 and under.
Suzanne Roberts, Director of the Rome Downtown Development Authority, invites everyone to join the fun.
Even adults are encouraged to head downtown in costume – the Rome DDA staffers will be in costume also, says Roberts.
Local public safety officials will team up to present Treats Not Streets 2025 from 3 pm until 5:30 pm on the lawn of the former Law Enforcement Center at 5 Government Plaza. There will be a kids costume contest at 4 pm, and, of course, candy.
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will host Truck or Treat from 4 pm until 6:30 pm at Ridge Ferry Park. Those interested in becoming a vendor should send an email to [email protected] to reserve a table.
Families may also opt to head down to Cave Spring for some trick or treating on Halloween evening. Curtis Burch, member of the Cave Spring Downtown Development Authority’s Board of Directors, enthuses that all the folks in the community have been stockpiling candy for the occasion.
Cave Spring is a very safe place for trick or treaters, attests Christa Jackson, President of the Cave Spring Historical Society, who adds that there will also be trunk or treating in the parking lot of Cave Spring Baptist Church.
The Cave Spring DDA seeks donations of candy for Halloween festivities, says Burch. Those donations may be taken to City Hall.
