JAMES H. “SLOPPY” FLOYD STATE PARK IN SUMMERVILLE WECOMES NORTHWEST GEORGIANS FOR HIKING, HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES, AND MORE

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park, located in Summerville, GA, welcomes Northwest Georgians for hiking, holiday festivities, and more.

Another Moon Pie Hike will be held on the evening of Saturday, December 6th from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. These hikes are typically centered around the full moon, says Katy Gramling, Park Manager. She adds that participants will be treated to Moon Pies and hot cocoa, along with moonrise over Taylor’s Ridge.

It costs $3 to participate in the hike, plus $5 for parking at the park. Hikers may call (706) 857-0826 to register.

The Peppermint Project will be hosted by the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park on Saturday, December 13th. Families will enjoy photo opportunities with Santa Claus, story time, and Christmas lights that will soon adorn the park, enthuses Gramling.

First Day Hikes will be offered on New Year’s Day 2026, says Gramling, who adds that there will also be a New Year’s Eve Hike to wrap up 2025.
