Media release from Show Savvy Productions:
The internationally renowned Ballet Magnificat! will return to the Rome City Auditorium on Sunday, February 1st , 2026 featuring Rome native Isaac Brackett among its talented company of dancers. The troupe will present a compelling narrative based upon the life story of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot entitled The Call. This performance in Rome is part of a broader tour, including stops in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky before traveling to Eastern Europe later this Spring.
The life story of Elisabeth Elliot inspires this performance. Elisabeth and her husband Jim were on the missionary front in the jungles of Ecuador in the mid-1950s when Jim and four other missionary husbands were martyred by the spears of a native tribe. This is a love story with great tragedy. It is also the story of survivorship, forgiveness and redemption. Within a year of her husband’s death Elisabeth began to live with and minister to the very tribe that slaughtered her husband.
Ironically, the company opened its tour on the very day that Charlie Kirk was murdered in Utah. The forgiveness that the widowed Ericka Kirk vocalized in the days that followed that incident mirrors the love that Elisabeth Eliot demonstrated by ministering to the very people who martyred her own husband.
Following the performance, the dancers will meet with the audience to provide inspiration, encouragement, and when appropriate, an opportunity for prayer. The company will be providing intermediate and advanced contemporary and ballet workshops at Kathy Baird Studios on January 31st. Registration for the workshops is available for dancers over 10 years of age with at least 2 years of dance experience at https://showsavvyproductions.com/home/workshop/ .
We have already sold 10% of our available tickets, with over 80% of our patrons so far coming from out of town. Last year we had out of town attendees at the workshop who brought their families and stayed overnight to attend the performance.
This one-night-only performance begins at 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 1st , 2026. It will be the first of two presentations the troupe will perform in Georgia this season. Advance tickets can be purchased at North Broad Animal Clinic.
