FLOYD EMA: PREPARE NOW FOR WINTER, COME WHAT MAY

There is a chill in the air as Winter nears. The season will officially arrive on Sunday, December 21st.

So what will the weather be like throughout this Winter? It is hard to predict, says Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency. He attests that the Winter Weather Outlook for 2025-2026 from the National Weather Service forecasts a dry Winter for our area because of a La Nina weather pattern.

Whether we experience a deep freeze or unseasonably warm temperatures, Herrington encourages Rome and Floyd County residents to stay safe and be prepared for whatever may come our way.

The public may obtain Winter safety tips from the Floyd EMA mobile app. It is available free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
