Floyd County residents may wrap up 2025 with a ‘bang’ and begin 2026 with a ‘brrrrrr’!
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will partner with Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic to present this year’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks Extravaganza. Fireworks will be launched from atop Jackson Hill at 7:30 pm on Wednesday night and should be visible throughout the community.
Lindsey Jones, RFPR Recreation Services Manager, says that the display will be livestreamed on Facebook.
New Year’s Day will be highlighted by the 2026 Cave Spring Polar Plunge to benefit the Cave Spring Historical Society. It will take place at high noon on Thursday, January 1st at Rolator Park.
Money from the Polar Plunge will go towards upkeep and maintenance of the historic buildings in Cave Spring, asserts Curtis Burch, a member of the Cave Spring Historical Society’s Board of Directors.
The cost to participate in the ’26 Cave Spring Polar Plunge is $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the plunge. Brave souls may find the link to register at www.cavespring.ga.gov/events.
All participants will be treated to a traditional New Years Day lunch after the plunge, says Burch.
