Now that Christmas has come and gone, do you seek a way to responsibly dispose of that live Christmas tree? Bring One for the Chipper! Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful invites community members to the annual Bring One for the Chipper on Saturday, January 3rd from 9 am until 12 pm in the parking lot of the Home Depot at 103 Hicks Drive in Rome.
Keith Mickler, UGA Extension agent for Floyd County, says that those who give a tree will be given a tree.
Christmas trees are typically recycled into wildlife habitats or chipped and used as mulch, adds Mickler.
Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful is partnering with the Georgia DNR Fisheries team this year to place recycled trees in nearby ponds and lakes, according to the event Facebook page.
