Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (February 2, 2026)- Gas prices in Georgia eased over the weekend, supported by strong in‑state fuel supplies and softer regional demand, even as the national average moved higher. As of Monday, the statewide average has dropped to $2.66 per gallon, though minor day‑to‑day fluctuations are still expected.
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- It’s 4 cents lower than last week
- 1 cent lower than last month
- 27 cents lower than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $39.90.
Winter Storm Impacts Reflected in National Fuel Prices
The winter storm that hit much of the country disrupted fuel supplies and pushed the national average for regular gas up to $2.87. Freezing temperatures slowed crude production and refinery operations, and demand jumped as drivers filled up ahead of the storm. Prices have risen over the past week, but the national average remains below the $3.10 seen at this time last year.
Regional Prices:
Atlanta- $2.67
The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($2.79), Savannah ($2.78), and Macon ($2.69).
The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Augusta-Aiken ($2.59), Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($2.55), and Rome ($2.53).
