Are you a good speller? Even if you are not, you are requested to assemble a team and participate in the Adult Spelling Bee to benefit Harbor House – The Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center. The event will take place on the evening of Thursday, April 16th at 6 pm at the DeSoto Theatre, located at 530 Broad Street in downtown Rome.
Kate Daggett, a member of Harbor House’s Board of Directors, says that the organization seeks teams that like to have a good time.
Participants will be challenged to correctly spell some quite unique words, adds Daggett.
Interested parties may contact Harbor House to form a team or to become an event sponsor. Teams will be tasked with raising funds for the local nonprofit prior to the Bee, says Lauren Thacker, Executive Director.
Don’t want to participate? Just attend the event! Thacker says that tickets are $15 in advance and may be purchased via the Give Butter link now featured on Harbor House’s Facebook page. Tickets will be sold at the door at a cost of $20 each. Proceeds will go towards the Harbor House mission to support children impacted by sexual and severe physical abuse, as well as the Floyd County CASA (or Court Appointed Special Advocates) program, according to Thacker.
