Residents of Rome, Floyd County, and even beyond are overwhelmed with shock and grief as the Historic Floyd County Courthouse was ravaged by a fire on Monday afternoon.
David Guldenschuh, on behalf of WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM, conducted an interview with Rome Mayor Jim Bojo as local firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Bojo remarked that Tuesday was a sad day for Rome and Floyd County, as a structure that stood as a local landmark for more than 130 years was devastated.
Bojo stated that firefighters, first responders, and law enforcement officers worked hard to keep the public safe. Even the Georgia State Patrol came to the rescue.
Updates on Tuesday’s courthouse fire are being provided by Floyd County as information becomes available.
