Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (March 30, 2026) Ongoing conflict in the Middle East is placing upward pressure on global oil prices, but Georgia’s suspension of the state gas tax continues to provide some relief for drivers. The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.58, down from last week. Drivers should be prepared for continued price fluctuations.
“Drivers are seeing higher prices at the pump due to rising crude oil costs,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Governor Kemp’s suspension of the state gas tax is helping provide relief, but with elevated oil prices, increasing seasonal demand, and the switch to summer gasoline, prices are likely to remain under pressure in the near term.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 11 cents lower than last week
- 8 cents higher than last month
- 64 cents higher than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $53.70.
National Gas Average Up $1 in a Month
The national average price for regular gas rose 4 cents over the past week and is now about a dollar higher than a month ago. Prices have climbed quickly, jumping from $2.98 in late February to $3.98 today. High oil prices tied to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, along with increased spring break travel, are pushing prices higher. The national average could soon reach $4 a gallon for the first time since March 2022.
Electric:
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station remained the same this past week at 41 cents. Drivers can plan ahead by checking prices along their route with AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner.
Regional Prices:
The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Atlanta ($3.65), Athens ($3.63), and Gainesville ($3.62).
The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.45), Brunswick ($3.44), and Albany ($3.41).
