The Atlanta Braves wrapped up their regular season opening homestand with a win over the Athletics by 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the final outing of a three-game set at Truist Park. The Braves took that series by 2-1 and went 4-2 during their homestand.
Drake Baldwin got the Braves on the board with a two-run single during the bottom of the second inning.
Shea Langeliers drove in the Athletics’ lone run of the day with a homer in the top of the fourth. Baldwin had a two-run double for Atlanta in the bottom of that inning. Matt Olson also contributed an RBI single during the fourth to score Baldwin and give the home team a 5-1 advantage.
Chris Sale was the Braves’ winning pitcher. He gave up just one run and one hit, walked none, and struck out three in six innings of work. Luis Severino was charged with the loss for the Athletics.
The Braves will open their first road trip of the 2026 regular season tonight versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch is slated for 9:40 pm Eastern at Chase Field out in Phoenix, AZ. Atlanta will play four games in Arizona tonight through Sunday, then head to Los Angeles, CA for three games with the Angels next Monday night through Wednesday afternoon.
The Rome Emperors’ 2026 season opener is set for tonight at AdventHealth Stadium versus the Asheville Tourists. The team will partner with the Wings Over North Georgia air show for Opening Night festivities. First pitch is set for 6:45 pm.
