April is observed annually as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Family Resource Center is partnering with other human service agencies to promote child abuse prevention in Rome and Floyd County throughout this month.
Tina Bartleson, FRC Executive Director, says that this year’s theme for CAP Month locally is “Partnerships and Possibilities” to highlight agencies’ ability to combat child abuse when they team up.
There has been a decrease in abuse and neglect cases in the community over the past 15-20 years, though struggles still exist, according to Bartleson. She adds that families are strengthened through proper support from organizations such as the FRC.
Today, April 2nd, is Wear Blue Day. Bartleson encourages community members to wear blue, the national color of prevention, and share pictures on FRC’s Facebook page.
