Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson is grateful for the firefighters, public safety officials, and first responders that kept community members safe amid the fire at the historic Floyd County Courthouse on March 23rd.
The firefighters did a great job of keeping the fire from spreading throughout downtown Rome, asserts Sheriff Roberson, who adds that facility managers were very timely in their efforts to get everyone out of the burning building safely. This was one of the most concerning times for our community in his 31-year career, he says.
The public is urged by Sheriff Roberson to remain patient amid the traffic in downtown Rome due to the closure of roads around the courthouse.
Sheriff Roberson also expresses his gratitude to those who helped the Floyd County Tag and Tax Assessors Offices get moved across the street within just a few days after the fire.
