FLOYD EMA PREPARES FOR SEPTEMBER OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH

September will be observed again in 2022 as National Preparedness Month. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the importance of being prepared for disasters of all types that could happen at any time.

Tim Herrington, the Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, indicates that his organization will use social media, local media, and the Floyd EMA mobile app to relay information on disaster preparedness to the public next month.

Weather-related disasters are among the most common disasters for which residents of Northwest Georgia should be prepared, even for periodic snow and ice during the winter, asserts Herrington.

Tornados, lightning, and straight line winds are all among weather-related threats commonly faced by our area, attests Herrington, who encourages all Floyd County residents to download the Floyd EMA mobile app through the Apple App Store or Google Play for some tips to prepare for severe weather and other types of disasters.
