The Atlanta Braves beat the Toronto Blue Jays by 4-3 in 11 innings to close out a three-game set at Truist Park on Sunday afternoon. It allowed Atlanta to take the series by 2-1.
Jarred Kelenic got the Braves on the board with a solo home run during the bottom of the second inning. The Blue Jays surged ahead with a two-run homer by Spencer Horwitz in the top of the eighth. Matt Olson had a sac fly for the Braves which tied it up at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth. George Springer hit an RBI single for the Jays in the top of the 11th. The Braves tied it up on an error, then secured the win with a bases-loaded single by Sean Murphy in the bottom of that inning.
Raisel Iglesias was credited with the win for Atlanta, while Zach Pop took the loss for Toronto.
The Braves are now 78-65 on the 2024 regular season and remain in second place of the National League East, now seven games back from the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies. They are tied with the New York Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot. They’ll host the Cincinnati Reds this evening in a game that was postponed due to rain in late July.
