ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN SERIES WITH SHUTOUT VICTORY OVER CINCINNATI REDS, ROME EMPERORS BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves shut out the Cincinnati Reds by 4-0 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game series at Truist Park. It was the second consecutive win for Atlanta and the third loss in a row for Cincinnati.

The Braves scored all four of their runs during the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double by Alex Verdugo, an RBI single from Austin Riley, and an inside the park home run by Matt Olson.
AJ Smith-Shawver was Atlanta’s winning pitcher after rendering the Reds hitless until the eighth. He gave up just one hit, walked four, and struck out five over eight innings of work. Brady Singer was charged with the loss for Cincinnati.
