NAMI Rome, GA invites community members to register now to participate in NAMI Walks Rome 2025, slated for Saturday, September 20th at Heritage Park. The park will open at 9 am with onsite registration and festivities. An opening ceremony will be held at 10:30 am and will be followed at 11:15 am by the walk, which will conclude at noon.
Jim Moore, Interim Executive Director, says that the purpose of the event is to promote mental health awareness.
Registration is now available at www.namiwalks.org/rome. There is no cost to participate, although donations are welcome. All proceeds will go towards services and resources for those impacted by mental illness.
Incentives are offered to the top fundraisers, says Bonnie Moore, Education Program Administrator.
Dante McKay, executive with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, will be in attendance at the event to promote mental health awareness.
Recovery is possible – with the right treatment – for those who struggle with mental illness, adds Jim Moore.

NAMI – Rome, GA also invites the community to a session called “Stronger Together: Mental Health in Minority Communities” featuring Kevin Fischer, Executive Director of NAMI Michigan, on Thursday, July 31st from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Lovejoy Baptist Church. This is being held in honor of National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
