The Atlanta Braves began a 10-game road trip on Monday night with a loss to the Miami Marlins by 2-1 in the first outing of a three-game National League East set at Miami, FL.
The Marlins scored the first run of the evening with an RBI double from Troy Johnston in the bottom of the fifth inning and added another with a home run by Maximo Acosta in the eighth. Drake Baldwin had a solo home run for the Braves in the top of the ninth.
Spencer Strider took the loss for Atlanta after surrendering one run and three hits, walking two, and striking out three over seven innings. Edward Cabrera got the win and Calvin Faucher picked up the save for Miami.
