The Atlanta Braves wrapped up a 10-game road trip with a 5-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night in the last meeting of a three-game set in Chicago, IL. That denied a sweep of the series for the Cubs. The Braves went 4-6 during their road trip.
Chicago struck first with an RBI single by Willi Castro during the bottom of the second inning. Ha-Seong Kim got Atlanta on the board with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh, his first home run in a Braves uniform. Nacho Alvarez Jr. added an RBI single in that inning. Ozzie Albies clubbed a solo home run in the eighth.
Bryce Elder was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up just one unearned run and four hits, walked none, and struck out six in seven innings of work. Ben Brown took the loss for Chicago.
The Braves are off this evening and will open up a nine-game homestand on Friday night with the first of three outings against the Seattle Mariners. First pitch is set for 7:15 pm at Truist Park. The Rome Emperors fell to the Hub City Spartanburgers by a final score of 4-2 on Wednesday night in game two of a six-game set in Spartanburg, SC. The series is now tied at 1-1. Those teams will meet in game three tonight; first pitch is slated for 6:35 pm.
This is the Emperors’ last series of the 2025 regular season. It will continue through Sunday.
