Media release from Rome, GA City Schools:
Rome High School students again outperformed public school students in Georgia and across the nation on the SAT, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Education.
Rome High School students in the class of 2025 scored an overall mean score of 1054, which is 25 points above the state mean of 1029 and 58 points higher than the national average of 996.
They also scored above both state and national averages on the Evidence-Based Reading and
Writing (ERW) and math portions of the test. Rome City Schools students recorded a mean score of 538 on ERW and a mean score of 516 on the math portion.
“This is a mission statement moment as the scores indicate we are preparing students for college. Combined with our Advanced Placement and dual enrollment programs, our school system has a laser-sharp focus on preparing students for college,” Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland says. “Again, special thanks to our teachers and parents for their collaborative effort to support our students.”
Georgia’s public school class of 2025 recorded a mean score of 526 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) portion of the assessment, and a mean score of 502 on the math portion. That’s compared to averages of 508 and 488, respectively, for students in the nation’s public schools.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their continued dedication and hard work,” Rome High Principal Parke Wilkinson says. “These results are a testament to their commitment to learning and to our teachers who work tirelessly to prepare them for these assessments. It’s a true team effort that leads to this success every year.”
