Media release from Rome, GA City Schools:
Two Rome City Schools have met the required standards and will be removed from the state’s Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) list. Main Elementary School and Rome Middle School both met the standards set by the Georgia Department of Education and were removed from the list.
Additionally, Anna K. Davie and Main Elementary Schools were highlighted for making progress as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) schools.
The TSI list is updated each year, with schools able to move off of it after only one year, while the CSI list requires schools to show progress over three years to be able to be removed.
Earlier this school year, every school in Rome City Schools posted growth across multiple areas of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Districtwide, elementary schools in Rome City Schools increased their scores from 2024 in all four state-measured CCRPI categories, reflecting a sustained focus on academic improvement.
Anna K. Davie and Main each showed strong progress in content mastery and achieved a score of at least 80 in an additional CCRPI component, meeting the criteria required to be included in the CIS progress list.
“Our students, teachers, and staff have worked incredibly hard to support student learning,” said Coretta Stewart, Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. “We are proud of the progress our schools are making and are happy to see them exit the TSI list. We remain committed to ensuring all students continue to grow and succeed in Rome City Schools.”
Rome City Schools continues to strengthen high-quality instruction across all grade levels through strategic investments, including the hiring of literacy and math coaches and interventionists, as well as the adoption of a new high-quality curriculum. These efforts are producing measurable, positive results for students across the district.
“We are incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment our teachers and students demonstrated to reach these outcomes,” said Dr. Wesley Styles, Director of Strategic Improvement and Accountability. “These results affirm that maintaining a strong focus on annual student growth is essential to achieving both immediate gains and long-term, sustainable success for our students and our district.”
