Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (December 29, 2025)- Georgia drivers are closing out the year with a welcome break at the pump as gas prices fell again this week. As of Monday, the statewide average has dropped to $2.68 per gallon, though minor day‑to‑day fluctuations are still expected.
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- It’s 6 cents lower than last week
- 15 cents lower than last month
- 21 cents lower than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $40.20.
A Cheaper Start Ahead: National Gas Prices Fall Below Last Year’s Levels
This holiday season continues to bring welcome relief at the pump, with gas prices dipping even as a record number of travelers hit the road. The national average has fallen 3 cents this week to $2.82, the cheapest December since 2020. Crude oil remains low, and despite heavy holiday demand, gasoline supplies are steady.
After a year of unusually stable fuel costs, drivers are heading into the new year with a real advantage: more predictable, budget‑friendly travel as millions continue taking to the roads in record numbers.
Electric:
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 38 cents. To plan ahead, drivers can check charging prices along their route using AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner.
Regional Prices:
The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Savannah ($2.79), Macon ($2.75), and Atlanta ($2.72).
The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Albany ($2.56), Valdosta ($2.55), and Augusta-Aiken ($2.50).

Fuel-Saving Tips for Drivers
- Maintain your vehicle to ensure the best fuel economy. Find a trusted automotive facility at AAA.com/Auto Repair.
- Combine errands to minimize driving time.
- Slow down. Fuel economy diminishes significantly at highway speeds above 50 mph. Drive conservatively and avoid aggressive driving. Aggressive acceleration and speeding can reduce fuel economy.
Traffic Safety Tip: AAA-The Auto Club Group “Move Over For Me” Campaign
“Drivers, if you see a disabled vehicle on the roadside while traveling, be courteous and Move Over,” said Waiters. “Remember, the person who broke down could be you, a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a neighbor. Move Over for the safety of others and because it is the right thing to do!”
