The Cave Spring Historical Society held the 2026 Cave Spring Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day at Rolater Lake.
This marked the second consecutive plunge for Pat Walls of Taylorsville. He describes the experience as breathtaking.
Carmen Gear of Cartersville enthuses that she was excited to join ‘the crazies’ to jump in the cold water.
Ten-year-old Michael Putnam of Cave Spring says that he wanted to partake in the Polar Plunge because he likes swimming in Rolater Lake.
Ricky Pinella of Marietta says that he did it because he wanted to start off the new year with a new experience.
Pinella adds that he was also pleased to support the Cave Spring Historical Society.
Proceeds from the Polar Plunge will go towards upkeep of historic buildings in Cave Spring, according to Callie McCain, Facilities Manager. This is one of numerous fundraising events hosted annually by the CSHS.
McCain says that there have been many memorable moments – and costumes – at the Polar Plunge over the years.
More than 100 brave souls ushered in this new year by participating in the Cave Spring Polar Plunge.
Donations are continually sought by the Cave Spring Historical Society, says McCain. The public may get additional information and/or make a donation online at www.cavespringhistoricalsociety.com.
