Sarah Husser has been named director of the Atrium Health’s FloydSpirit Foundation.
FloydSpirit Foundation is the new name for Atrium Health Floyd’s Floyd Healthcare Foundation, a fundraising and friend-raising philanthropy that seeks to raise funds and establish programs that contribute to the mission of Atrium Health Floyd.
Husser, who previously served as the foundation’s development officer and fundraising and outreach coordinator for Cancer Navigators, will be responsible for managing fundraising activities, promoting community awareness and gaining financial support for Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and its affiliates. In addition, Husser will collaborate with Atrium Health Floyd-Polk Foundation President Dan Bevels to advance that organization’s work to improve health in the communities served by Atrium Health Floyd.
The not-for-profit veteran has worked at Atrium Health Floyd for the past eight years. Before joining Atrium Health Floyd, Husser served as the director of the Gordon County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead FloydSpirit Foundation,” Husser said. “Through my work with Cancer Navigators, I have been able to see firsthand what patients are struggling with and the needs in our community. And now in this new role, I will be working to raise funds to help meet those needs, the needs of Atrium Health Floyd and to build and continue important programs in our community.”
Husser holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism with an emphasis in public relations. Her community activities include serving as a sustainer for the Junior Service League of Rome and a St. Mary’s Catholic School parent volunteer, in addition, she is a member of the Seven Hills Rotary Club, Garden Study Garden Club, the Junior Cotillion Advisory Board and is participating in the current Rome-Floyd Chamber of Commerce Leadership Rome class. She previously served as an Elevate Campaign leader for the chamber.
Husser is married to John Scott Husser Jr., a Rome attorney. They have two children, Helen and Jack.
