Floyd County Schools (FCS) is proud to announce the appointment of Jason Self as the district’s new Director of Transportation, effective June 1, 2026.
Self brings more than two decades of experience in education, leadership, school safety, and emergency management to his new role. Most recently serving in district leadership, Self has held positions including assistant principal and director-level roles focused on safety, security, and student support.
“I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to be part of Floyd County Schools’ operational team,” said Jason Self. “As the Director of Transportation, it will be my goal for our department to be known as the exemplary student transportation provider for the entire state.”
Throughout his career, Self has combined hands-on leadership with a deep understanding of school systems and community partnerships.
In addition to his educational leadership experience, he serves as a reserve police officer with the City of Rome and has completed extensive training in emergency management, crisis response, and school safety procedures. His academic credentials include advanced degrees in educational leadership and emergency management.
As Director of Transportation, Self will oversee the daily operations of the district’s transportation department, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service for Floyd County students and families. His experience in safety planning, logistics, and team leadership positions him well to lead one of the district’s most critical operational areas.
