Media release from Rome, GA City Schools:
Rome City Schools is pleased to announce that Lisa Strack has been named the principal at West End Elementary School, starting June 1, 2026. Mrs. Strack was approved as West End’s new principal by the Rome City Schools Board of Education at the March board meeting on Tuesday night at the Rome High School College and Career Academy.
Mrs. Strack will be taking over for current principal Dr. Dennis Drummond, who will be stepping into his new role of Rome City Schools Assistant Superintendent on June 1, 2026.
“I am honored to be named the principal of West End. West End is the community that raised my children and shaped my career. Having grown here as both a teacher and a leader, it is a great privilege to give back to the place that has given my family so much. As I return to the West End community, my mission remains the same: to serve with heart and lead with excellence,” Mrs. Strack said. “Elm Street is the place that grounded me. I began my career in education here as a paraprofessional, and these past three years as principal have prepared me for this next step. Together with the students, faculty, staff, and the community I have served, we have accomplished so much. I will forever be grateful for such a special place. My heart has always been with Rome City Schools, and the most exciting part of all of this is we are all wolves, just a few blocks away, but always one pack.”
Mrs. Strack is currently the principal at Elm Street Elementary. She took over the role in 2023. Under her tenure as principal, Elm Street has received many honors, including being named a PBIS Distinguished School and being named a Math Leader School, and a John Hancock School by the Georgia Department of Education. Elm Street also earned the Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness School designation for the past two years and just received STEM Certification as well.
Mrs. Strack has a long history with Rome City Schools. She began her career as a paraprofessional at Elm Street. Upon earning her Bachelor’s degree from Shorter University, she moved to West End and became a teacher. She spent a little more than a decade at West End serving in various roles, including as a science and social studies teacher, match teacher, match coach, and assistant principal. Mrs. Strack was honored as West End’s Teacher of the Year in 2014 and was also named Rome City School’s District Teacher of the Year that same year.
Along with her degree from Shorter, Mrs. Strack has a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Phoenix University, an Ed.S. in Brain-Based Teaching from Nova Southeastern University, as well as endorsements in Math, ESOL, and Coaching and Tier I and II Leadership from the University of West Georgia.
